Overview:

This year, we will be learning selected פרקים from חומש דברים. The objective will be to learn to read and translate each section withרש'י ‘s commentary, understand the מצות therein, and gleam the main concepts. To help facilitate remembering and understanding, we will focus on the key expressions ("ביטויים").

In addition, we will learn 2 new שרשים a day, approximately. This word list will be primarily based on the section we are covering and will be cumulative. Students will be quizzed on words approximately once a week. The purpose of this exercise is to help students develop the skills necessary to learn independently.

Lastly, each week we will cover an overview of the פרשת השבועה. Students will be responsible to complete summary question sheets followed by a quiz. There will be selected parts of פרשה that will be cumulative as well. By highlighting the fundamental concepts and events, students will acquire a general overview of תורה.

· A loose-leaf binder is highly recommended for this class!

Making up for excused tests will be the student’s responsibility. Students will have no more than 1 week to make up tests before point deduction and/or a zero is given.
